Game Overview
MegaGlest is a free and open source 3D RTS, based on the popular Glest (which is a free LAN game in its own right). In the game, players can pick from one of six factions, such as Magic or Tech, and battle it out on a variety of maps. The game features many different units and structures, and there are also a number of mods available. The game also has an active online community.

ReplyDeleteMegaGlest has an 8 player limit and comes with seven factions by default.
For mods to look at, my personal recommendation would be the Japanese (available from the MegaGlest mod menu) and the yet to be released Prax mod (http://forum.megaglest.org for news) - but there are several others worth looking into.
If you like artillery fights, check out Annex (http://annexconquer.com), a stand-alone game using the MegaGlest engine, where two factions (up to 8 players) fight for red glowing crystal resources in a future scenery with anime characters.
